New King Street bar Roc & Rye opening in July
Roc & Rye is set to be the newest addition to King Street, with the craft coffee and cocktail bar launching on the Friday 7th July. Bringing Irish tastes to Manchester, it will house an on-site laboratory for drink concocting, alongside an extensive cocktail menu, with signature cocktail Lost At Sea highlighting the taste of Cooper’s Croze Jameson Whiskey.

Now open: Award-winning Yu Brothers open new restaurant Taberu
New bao express eatery Taberu has opened on King Street. Run by brothers Victor and Vinny Yu – also behind the award-winning Yu restaurant in Alderley Edge – Taberu brings their expertise to the city, fusing flavours through a street food menu. Free beer and cheese tasting at Wine & Wallop
West Didsbury’s Wine and Wallop is welcoming Open Gate Brewery to the bar to hold a free sampling evening of Hop House 13 lager and matched cheeses. The session will also talk guests through the history of the brews. Head down for gratis fun.

Tuscan wine tasting at Fazenda in Spinningfields
Brazilian restaurant Fazenda is hosting an evening to showcase the wines of Tuscany in a Castellare and Rocca di Frassinello wine masterclass. The aficionados on hand will walk guests through the renaissance of Italian wines, with six specially selected wines to sample. The event is an intimate setting, so places are limited and booking is essential. The ticket price includes the six wines, dinner and dessert. Bundobust hosts Manchester leg of Fourpure tour
London-based family brewery Fourpure Brewing Co is now on tour – with the Manchester stint taking place at Bundobust. At their ALL THE JUICEBOX evening, Indy Lager, Shape Shifter and Deucebox will be served, plus there is a food and beer deal of vada pav, okra fries and half a Juicebox for £8. The first 50 people to exclaim “Get juiced!” at the bar also get a free pint- head down for 5pm to score that.

Supper club returns to Ancoats with a five-course feast
It’s back. Held in Ancoats Coffee Co in Royal Mills, Ancoats Supper Club is returning after a brief hiatus. This time Alex Bond will be taking over the kitchen, having previously worked in Michelin-starred restaurant Sat Bains, Auberge du Lac in Hertfordshire and Turners in Birmingham. Soon to open Alchemilla in Nottingham, he’s trialling menus out on lucky supper club-goers. This five-course feast begins with tomato and lovage, followed by jersey royals, fermented garlic and smoked cream. A main of slow-cooked pork, watercress and elderflower is followed by desserts of sea buckthorn, yoghurt and black sesame, finishing with chocolate, miso, banana and lime. The bar will be serving locally brewed Cloudwater beer, but it is also BYOB event with a small corkage charge.
