New menu: Pen and Pencil builds on reputation as a go-to for brunch
The Pen and Pencil is getting a menu revamp, with new brunch dishes and mains. For brunch, they’re introducing N’duja baked eggs with pepper ragu and feta, plus beer braised brisket benedict with pickled onion and carrot, poached eggs and miso glaze. At lunch, expect roasted and pickled beet salad with goat’s cheese, rocket and sesame and a hearty Philly cheese steak sandwich to join the regular menu favourites.

Party: Shindigger’s event space launch in Ancoats with Reform Radio DJs & new beer
Local brewery ShinDigger is launching a new Ancoats events space opposite Band On The Wall. Head down to the launch party to sample their collaboration beer with Reform Radio called Rhythm + Brews. Tickets are £5, which includes a pint of the zesty dry lager hopped with Japanese hop Sorachi Ace and lemon. Reform Radio DJs are playing and Hold Tight bring the visuals. Book mystery dining tickets: Firebird Supper Club…somewhere near Victoria Station
The next pop-up in the Firebird series is happening this Friday night. The cryptic dining experience is yet to reveal its exact location, but is very close to Victoria train station. The menu promises a chicken dish, beautiful veggie fare, with seasonal sides and sauces. With added booze and music. £10 Hip hop documentary screenings at Kosmonaut with beer & food from the Hip Hop Chip Shop
Kosmonaut and resident chefs Hip Hop Chip Shop are joining forces to bring you the inaugural Hip Hop Doc Spot, a season of hip hop documentaries screened in the Northern Quarter bar’s basement. This week’s choice is Adult Rappers, a film set in the USA, exploring the lives of working class rappers and their lives as independent artists and how they balance creativity with earning a living. The ticket price includes the film screening, a main course from the fish and chip maestros and an ABC beer or house wine.

Book now: Real Junk Food Project takes over Gray’s Larder in Chorlton
The Real Junk Food Project are running their next food waste pop-up feast from Chorlton restaurant Gray’s Larder. Every dish will be created from fresh ingredients that would otherwise be destined for landfill. There are two sittings during the evening and all food is on a pay-as-you-feel basis, but booking is essential via the link below. The Gray’s bar will be serving drinks and is cash only. All money raised will be put back into the project in the fight against food waste and food poverty.
