Pop-up Negroni fountain at The Anthologist in St Peter’s Square
The latest addition to St Peter’s Square will be hosting the UK’s first ever touring negroni fountain this summer. Drake & Morgan’s new venture The Anthologist recently opened and have teamed up with Tanqueray to showcase an elaborate way to get the vermouth cocktail. Based on the water fountains seen in many Spanish cities, and decorated in tiles, the fountain is sure to help take drinkers to a sunny Spanish city no matter whether the heatwave holds in the North West or not as well as helping them to get a taste for Tanqueray’s new Flor de Sevillea drink.

New Manchester lager brewer Manchester Union Lager launches… soon
Manchester is no stranger to brewing beer, and is awash with some of the finest craft ale makers in the world, but now it’s getting its own exclusive lager brewers. The brewery is called Manchester Union Lager and each pint takes over 80,000 minutes to brew. They’re also hinting that they will be opening a brew tap. Watch this space.

Australasia’s new terrace opens this Friday
One of Spinningfields elder statesmen, Australasia, is bringing a special new bar for summer to the area. From Friday 3 August, Sunset by Australasia will be bringing a taste of Miami cool and laid back Ibizan vibes in the middle of Manchester. Alongside sangrias and pina coladas, there will also be the bar’s own Sunset Signatures cocktails and soundtracked by their resident DJs.

Now open: new cocktail bar The Jane Eyre in Ancoats
Cutting Room Square is getting closer to be more bars that scaffolding, and one hotly anticipated opening is The Jane Eyre, whose doors have now flung open. Rather than being named after Bronte, the bar is name for the owners’ mother. Promising the same warm welcome that their mother showed them, Joe and Jonny Eyre will have cocktails, snacks and a neighbourhood welcome.

The Fitzgerald’s new cocktail menu launch party – with free Southern Comfort cocktail
This Thursday (2 Aug), The Fitzgerald are launching their new cocktail menu with a jazz and swing party sponsored by Southern Comfort. The schedule is as follows: 6.30pm Southern Comfort tasting, masterclass and complimentary cocktail; 8.30pm live jazz, swing and be-bop band with music from the 1920 to the 1950s. Pride Afternoon Tea at The Lowry Hotel
With Pride ready to hit Manchester’s streets and bars at the end of this month, The Lowry Hotel is getting in on the act with its Pride themed afternoon teas. Of course, there will be rainbows abound, with the Rainbow cake, as well as their normal afternoon tea fare.
