The Creameries’ impeccably sourced food and drink may be a favourite of national food critics but you don’t need to have a sit-down meal to get a taste of the Chorlton gaff’s action. The fabulously Instagrammable cafe bar serves one of the area’s leading selections of wine and ale – and with a grand offer of two drinks and two snacks for a tenner from 5pm until 8pm Wednesday to Saturday, it seems remiss not to drop by as often as possible. After all, as much care goes into the snacks menu as goes into everything else at Mary-Ellen McTague’s award-winning cafe bar (we love the house sourdough with whipped brown butter) – and the split pea chips and mushroom ketchup are extraordinary, described as “farinata with the swagger of a Gallagher brother” according to Marina O’Loughlin in The Sunday Times. Remember: those fried almonds in pink peppercorn salt aren’t going to eat themselves.
The Creameries, 406 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester, M21 0SD. Tel: 0161 312 8328, offer times Wed-Fri, 5pm-8pm, two snacks and two drinks for £10,
