This summer, Six by Nico will offer diners the chance to experience a variety of sweet and spicy dishes from China’s largest city as their new six-course tasting menu takes traditional Shanghai cuisine and adds a modern spin on classic meals.

Originally from Glasgow, Chef Nico Simeone established Six by Nico in 2017 and expanded the company to other locations across the UK, including Manchester, Liverpool and London, shortly after. Six by Nico regularly hosts different themed menus for the public to enjoy, which each six-plate offering changing every few weeks.

Simeone and his team took inspiration for this new dining experience from Shanghainese dishes, adding their own modern interpretation. The team aims to capture Shanghai culture and its culinary scene by incorporating street food and haute cuisine.

Offering a range of dishes and flavours, diners can expect char siu pork mantou steamed buns, Dezhou chicken, mushroom medicine, cod satay, black beef and broccoli, and matcha served with raspberries and white chocolate for dessert. Vegetarian options are also available, including dishes like cauliflower steamed buns, potato satay and teriyaki roasted broccoli.

‘Cooking Shanghai’ will be available from Monday 28 June until Sunday 8 August at £32 per person with the option of adding a complimentary wine pairing for an additional £26.
