A free, one-off show, That Night Follows Day is a comical and poignant play. The unusual production is written by adults but stars performers aged eight to 14. It explore the ways in which adults’ words and actions shape the world of a child through the truths, half-truths, white lies, pet names, the rules and even the wishes for their children. The play is produced by Forced Entertainment, whose current season has been featured heavily on Wire, and will be performed on the main stage at Contact. The Sheffield-based production company have been making theatre for more than 25 years in which they question, push, stretch and even break theatre in many different ways. For That Night Follow’s Day they have recruited 16 local children who will rehearse the piece during the course of the company’s residency at Contact.
