Last Chance to See Airport ‘87 at Central Library (pictured)
This Saturday is your last chance to catch this free exhibition of photographs by street photographer Shirley Baker in the first floor exhibition space at Central Library. Although she’s best known for documenting inner-city life, the photographs in this exhibition were all taken at Manchester Airport during the course of a single day thirty years ago. Airport ‘87 provides a snapshot of the lives of weary holidaymakers, and shows how Terminal 1 used to look. Some of the images are also accompanied by digital mock-ups of the ongoing £1bn rebuild, contrasting the past and future of our local airport.
Until Sat 6 Jan, Central Library, St Peter’s Square, Manchester, M2 5PD. Tel: 0161 234 1983, 9am – 5pm, www.librarylive.co.uk

They’re supported on the night by Leeds garage punk band Black Pudding, beloved local band Louie Louie and post-punk group Slow Knife. Booking ahead is essential and arriving early is recommended, as this is a particularly packed bill.
