Christmas Day 2016 saw us lose one of our most iconic male performers, the Grammy award winning, Geri Halliwell loving, tight blue jeans wearing Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, more commonly known as George Michael. In tribute to Michael’s legacy and catalogue of pop defining hits, newly refurbished 1980s themed Canal Street venue- the aptly named- Club Tropicana is launching the first instalment of their ‘One Night Only’ events in his name. The night will be a none stop tour de force of Michael’s music; everything from the early days in Wham!, his solo mega hits like ‘Faith’ and ‘Careless Whisper’ as well as his own musical influences and the artists that he inspired. Keeping in spirit with the nostalgic 80’s theme, the venue will be serving a whole host of cocktails and beverages synonymous with the decade. It’s the first ‘One Night Only’ special at the venue, future plans include nights dedicated to other iconic names like Bowie, Madonna and Minogue. Also, donations for the many charities that George Michael supported will be accepted on the night.
