The doors to Manchester University’s hallowed halls will be thrown open to the public for the Uni’s annual Community Festival. It aims to be a fun afternoon of activities for all the family. Visitors can take part in live experiments, and watch musical and dramatic performances. Standout events include ‘The Flash-Bang Show’, a demonstration of the weird, colourful, and sometimes noisy world of chemistry. In the Chinese Garden, you can take part in a traditional tea ceremony, listen to some Eastern classical music, and attend arts and crafts workshops. At the Digital Fabrication Centre, visitors can use special doodle pens to design something which will then be 3D printed. You can also take a tour of the Uni’s neo-gothic buildings, and go behind the scenes to meet the academics and find out about their current research projects.
