To celebrate the 30th birthday of Manchester institution, Eastern Bloc records, the team at the Blue Pig have set up a Thursday night residency. Boasting only the best in techno, house, electro, reggae and more, it’s one of the city’s most alluring free DJ nights and it starts this Thursday. Eastern Bloc was set up in 1985. The famous record store has changed locations a few times over the years, but it’s affiliation with bleeding edge sounds and reputation for catering to the genuine music fan as well as top end DJs has garnered them a loyal following. You need to be a person who knows almost everything about music to work in their small shop off Stevenson Square: who better to guide you through a night of frolicks at the new-look Blue Pig?

From Thu 5 Feb and then every 1st, 3rd and 4th Thu, The Blue Pig, 69 High Street, Manchester, M4 1FS. Tel: 0161 832 0630, www.thebluepigmcr.co.uk
