Last year, local publishers Dostoyevsky Wannabe teamed up with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation for an Indie Book Fair. The event was a big success, so they have arranged a follow up, which will take place at the Burgess Foundation this February. The free event will showcase and celebrate independent literary activity in the region. Alongside Dostoyevsky Wannabe, there will be 11 other publishing companies from around Greater Manchester, and several more from Yorkshire and Merseyside. There is no formal programme of activities, such as speeches, readings, or performances, just a relaxed environment in which to browse for new reading matter, support indie businesses, and meet some interesting people. The venue’s bar will be serving refreshments, and DJs will be on hand to add to the atmosphere.
