Manchester’s live literature circuit seems to add a new night every month. Following a packed launch event last month, Verbose makes a welcome return to the ever-expanding scene. The event promotes itself as ‘bringing words to the ‘burbs’ but the appearance of headliners Emma Jane Unsworth, Richard Hirst, and Jenn Ashworth for the second event suggests this is more than just a sideline to the city centre events. Among the heavyweight names is a healthy and well-subscribed open-mic ready to entertain the crowd in the cosy upstairs of the Fallow Cafe. Ably hosted by live literature mainstay Sarah-Clare Conlon, the night looks set to continue attracting the heaving crowds spotted at the inaugural night and is a welcome addition to the live literature calendar and to Fallowfield’s growing roster of live nights. Just get down early if you want a seat.
