Manchester Art Gallery concludes their Wonder Women: Radical Manchester programme with a free evening performance by RNCM students. Mezzo sopranos Rosie Middleton and Lucilla Graham present a modern programme, including works by Ella Jarman-Pinto and RNCM student composer Michael Betteridge, accompanied by pianist Pilar Beltran. The performance celebrates the centenary of the smashing of 13 works of art in the Gallery by three Manchester suffragettes in a dramatic protest against the imprisonment of key suffragette, Emmeline Pankhurst. Check out an exhibition of work from the period at the same time and more information about the protest is available here. Look out for other free performances by RNCM students as part of their In the City programme.
