Leading experimental local label Sacred Tapes is hosting a free Sunday afternoon showcase at Common this month. The event is the second in Common’s series of label showcases and features three artists’ solo projects from Manchester’s highly collaborative avant-garde. Alex Macarte of Salford drone rockers Gnod is set to top the bill in his guise as AHRKH, while noise artist Small Joy and Christopher Wrigglesworth-Anderson’s Carriers project are also playing live. The Sacred Tapes label was founded by Callum Higgins, whose recorded output veers from darkly ambient to entrancingly abrasive noises, channelling sci-fi and found sounds.
