Comedy Cuts Barbershop at Stretford Mall (pictured)
Fancy a free haircut this weekend? Well how about a free comedy screening? How about both? This Saturday and Sunday, BAME community events organisers We Are Parable are bringing a very different type of screening to Stretford Mall, in conjunction with the BFI’s Comedy Geniuses project. Inspired by landmark series Desmond’s – the sitcom set in a black barbershop in Peckham – the crew at We Are Parable are setting up their own barber shop, with professional coiffeurs giving out free haircuts. During these appointments, they’ll also be screening episodes of Desmond’s alongside films such as the classic Chris Tucker/Ice Cube vehicle Friday.
Sat 19 Jan, Stretford Mall, Chester Road, Manchester, M32 9BD, 10am – 5pm, www.facebook.com
