For our first pick of free things to do in Manchester this week, we’re off to new art space Chop Chop on Oxford Road, which will be hosting free launch event across two sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exhibition is called Eighteen in Twenty Eighteen and features the work of twelve young upcoming artists working across a range of mediums, producing art that reflects the challenges and fractured identities of young people today.

Mr. Scruff at Electrik
With one exhibition closing, another opens this Wednesday as producer/DJ/local legend Mr. Scruff presents his new collection of prints at Chorlton bar Electrik. Polterheist Screening at Tadah Media
You can catch an early cast-and-crew screening of forthcoming horror-comedy film Polterheist at the offices of production company Tadah Media this Thursday. It’s a raucous ghosts vs. gangsters story that’s locally-made and full of low budget thrills. Check it out if you’re down for some schlocky entertainment.

Roget’s Thesaurus and the Power of Language at Portico Library
The Portico Library launches a new exhibition this Thursday on the subject of Roget’s Thesauraus – the man himself Peter Mark Roget having worked at the library in the early 19th Century. See What I See at Manchester Art Gallery
This one-off event at Manchester Art Gallery presents work from six video artists. Feral Practice, Julie del’Hopital, Maeve Rendle, Nicola Dale and Matylda Wierietielny, and Victoria Lucas are all screening videos that utilise performance, staging and documentary to show you the world through their eyes. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A.
