Last Chance to See Inside View at Central Library
This exhibition of paintings produced by inmates at HMP Manchester is our first pick of free things to do in Manchester this week. Inside View runs until Thursday and features work from artists enrolled in prisons NOVUS arts programme. The paintings provide a unique look at life on the inside, and also act as a reflection of the artist’s personal development and rehabilitation. Note: The library isn’t open isn’t open on Bank Holiday Monday.

Ink Trade Book Launch at Burgess Foundation (pictured)
The Burgess Foundation presents the launch of this new book of collected journalism from the big man himself, Anthony Burgess. Ink Trade, published by Carcanet press, collects essays, reviews and columns spanning his entire career, including some that haven’t been seen since they were first appeared in newsprint. This launch event includes a drinks reception and readings from the book, which will be available to purchase on the night.

Duality Exhibition Launch at The Sharp Project
Digital production complex The Sharp Project launches a new exhibition this Thursday. Duality is a documentary photography exhibition, showcasing the work of Simon Bray and Tristan Poyser, and it has previously been on display in Brighton and featured on the BBC’s In Pictures. The pair have photographed people, both in workwear and in their casual clothing, to highlight the contrasting perceptions we hold of working people. Refreshments on this launch night will be provided by from Brindle Gin Distillery, with Blackjack, Runaway and Track breweries bringing the beers.
