Art of Travel Tour at Manchester Art Gallery
On Saturday afternoon, Manchester Art Gallery hosts another of its volunteer-led exhibition tours, this time honing in on the theme of travel in art. Experienced guide Isabelle Killicoat takes you through the gallery’s vast collection, expounding on the many ways in which the artists showcased have been inspired by their journeys around the world, and how travel continues to inspire artists up to the present day.

Sub:terranea at Eastern Bloc
Party promoters Sub:terranea return to the Northern Quarter café and record shop for a packed night of underground, house and techno. They’re bringing along a roster of their favourite DJs including regular resident Phil Warner and Sub:terranea head honcho Rory Flynn for a night of all-vinyl heavy hitters. Arriving early is recommended, as this venue can get packed out.

Niamos and Hulme Garden Centre Bazaar (pictured)
On Sunday, Niamos radical art centre teams up with Hulme Community Garden Centre, for this unique bazaar that spans across both venues. Dozens of creatives and businesses from around the region will be stopping by to sell, showcase their work and run workshops where you can learn about bicycle repair, clothes mending and sustainable living. This bazaar is technically free to attend, but a £3 donation is requested on the day.

Kim Barsky Exhibition Launch at Didsbury Parsonage
Manchester painter Kim Barsky launches her latest solo exhibition this Sunday at The Didsbury Parsonage. Hidden Treasures of a Beautiful Planet collects some of her large scale paintings, including abstract works and expressionist landscapes that make deft use of colour and texture. Prosecco is provided on the day, and the exhibition can be viewed by appointment until Sunday 1 September.
