Just one of an ongoing series of events marking 100 years since the Peterloo Massacre, this special tour at the The John Rylands Library on Friday offers some insight not just into to the massacre itself, but the politics and social context behind it.

Film: Underwater Screening at HOME
HOME hosts this screening of new short film Underwater, before its festival run and eventual placement on the Sky Arts channel. It’s a new film from actor/director Michael Keogh and stars a number of established British actors – including Waterloo Road’s Jason Done – alongside some newer faces. The screening is followed by a short Q&A At the time of writing, the 11am screening has sold out, but there are still tickets available for 10am.

Yoga at Yes Manchester
Every Saturday, yoga guru Josie Maya runs these yoga sessions at Charles Street venue YES. The venue’s Pink Room, usually reserved for gigs and club nights, is turned into a karmic retreat for an hour over Saturday lunchtime as you’re invited to take part in this free session pitched at all abilities. Mats are provided, but you are of course welcome to bring your own.

Also this Saturday is the latest instalment of Levenshulme Market, one of the city’s best artisan markets. Taking place in the train station car park, they offer all the crafts, trinkets and vintage accessories you could desire, along with a great range of street food vendors including Kitchenette Corsica and traditional pizzeria Mio Pizza. Stalls aside, they’re also welcoming singer-songwriter Clare Stokes for a live performance in the afternoon.
