Working Class Voodoo Book Launch at 3MT
Poet Bobby Parker comes to Affleck’s Palace mini-theatre 3MT this Friday evening for the launch of his new book Working Class Voodoo. Parker made waves with his debut 2014 collection Blue Movie, and he describes the new work as ‘an enterprise in dark metaphysics’. He’ll be reading from the new book, and will also be joined by several as-yet-unannounced guest readers.

Elizabeth Kwant at Canada House (pictured)
On Friday and Saturday, you can catch this unique exhibition from local artist Elizabeth Kwant at restored textile mill Canada House. Her latest piece is called In Transit and it brings together work across various mediums, along with the first complete screening of her documentary film series charting the migration route from Morocco to the UK. There’s two performances you can catch – 5.30pm on Friday and midday on Saturday.

Subi Launch at Various Venues
From this weekend until the start of November, various venues across the city will be hosting Subi – an exhibition of Korean art, rendered in ceramics and other materials. Sara Jaspan and John Powell-Jones at Castlefield Gallery
A second appearance for Castlefield Gallery this weekend as they host this discussion between artist John Powell-Jones and writer Sara Jaspan on Saturday afternoon. They’ll be talking about John’s new publication Tomb Machines, which Sara has contributed an essay to, as well as John’s exhibition of the same name that ran earlier this year at Great Northern Tower. This is a great opportunity to gain some insight into a man who produces work that’s equal measures horrifying and fascinating. Booking ahead is essential.
