FLIM NITE at 3MT
Based in the hidden ground-floor theatre space in Affleck’s Palace, FLIM NITE has become something of a spoken-word institution. The concept is simple: Each night is themed around a particular film, which the performers then interpret through their own artistic lens. In the past they’ve taken aim at a diverse bunch of pictures, from Face/Off to Spirited Away, but this month the film of choice is David Lynch’s weird masterpiece from 2002 Mulholland Drive. Whether you’re familiar with the film of not, it’s still a joy to see it brought back to life as a FLIM. This one’s free on the door, but the suggested donation is £3.

Janky Jukebox at Fuel Café Bar
Now here’s a pretty unique concept for a music night: Three bands are invited to perform an evening of cover versions – ranging from pop classics to obscure advertising jingles – with their final set lists picked by an online vote. Whilst it’s sadly too late to vote for your song to be played – polls closed on 23rd May – you can still swing by this night at Withington’s Fuel Café Bar, and see the results as performed by dream poppers Sealand, garage rockers Pale Gallery and loop pedal magicians The Vanity Project.

Quizimodo’s 10th Birthday at Odd Bar and Oddest Bar (pictured)
Manchester’s craziest, most-ambitious pub quiz turns ten this week, and they’re throwing a party across two venues to celebrate. Odd Bar on Thomas Street and Chorlton’s Oddest Bar have long been the homes of this quiz night, and for one night only you can catch the quiz at both venues with a big, boozy party afterwards. Entry isn’t technically free – with door prices set at a wallet-busting £1 – but includes free birthday cake and other sweet treats.
Wed 3 May, Odd Bar, 30 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1ER. 8pm – late, www.facebook.com
Oddest Bar, 414-416 Wilbraham Rd, Manchester, M21 0SD. 8pm – late, www.facebook.com

Star Wars Party at Fab Café
We’re pretty much stuck with that ‘may the 4th be with you’ joke, so you might as well find a way to enjoy it. One way you can make the most of Star Wars day is by attending this free themed party at Portland Street nerdtopia Fab Café. The basement club will be hosting a Star Wars party and offering up prizes for the best costumes. There’s even an opportunity to get a photo with a stormtrooper and a Darth Maul impersonator.
Thu 4 May, Fab Café, 109 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 6DN. 9pm – 2am, www.facebook.com
