Polyphony Down the Pub at Odd Bar (pictured)
If you’re looking for a sing-song this week, you should pop down pop down to Odd Bar on Thomas Street this Monday. Polyphony Down The Pub is a choral singing concept that brings Bach to your local boozer, inviting enthusiasts to come help recreate some of the best-known arrangements from the renaissance and beyond. Spaces for those who just want to listen have already gone, so you’ll need to bring your lungs if you want to take part.
Mon 8 Aug, Odd Bar, 30-32 Thomas St, Manchester, M4 1ER. 6.30pm – 10pm, www.eventbrite.co.uk

Chris Brooker at Sandbar
Dead Cat Comedy’s new act/new material night Guinea Pigs returns to Sandbar, this time headlined by Chris Brooker who is perhaps best known for his work touring with wrestling legends such as Mick Foley and William Regal. He’s supported on this evening by a slew of new acts and less-new acts trying out new jokes. As a bonus, it’s all held together by excellent American comic Kate McCabe, who you may have previously seen helming Village-based comedy night Sidekick Comedy. It’s Pay-What-You-Want show, so you’re encouraged to place your own value on the laughs.
Wed 10 Aug, Sandbar, 120 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL. 8pm – 11pm, www.facebook.com
