Free things to do this weekend ft. Found Sounds, The Beagle + more

This Friday afternoon, Central Library are hosting an open mic session in partnership with music charity Brighter Sound and Contact theatre. Found Sounds is its name, and it features not just the musical talents of people who’ve come up through Brighter Sound’s projects, but also spoken word, poetry and freestyle MCing to enjoy. These open mic performers will also have the opportunity to improvise over a brand new electronic music piece created as part of a five-day residency at the library for young musicians.

The Beagle’s Happy Hour Launch
Common celebrated the launch of its happy hour the other week with a big party, and now it’s the turn of its Chorlton sister bar The Beagle. Earlycomers can snag a Beavertown Neck Oil, Berliner Pilsner or flute of prosecco. See our full preview for more details.

Hip-Hop for the Homeless at Indigo
Withington basement bar Indigo was shut for a good long while, but it’s open again and running fresh, interesting events in the heart of the student suburb. One such event is this hip-hop night on Saturday, with live performances from up-and-coming artists such as Wild’E Peyote and Kid Katharsis. Although it’s free on the door, they are asking for cash donations – or donations of warm socks – which will all go to homeless charity Lifeshare.

Studio 25 Open Day
Studio 25 is dance studio tucked away on the edge of the Northern Quarter, and they’re offering a programme of free classes for you to take advantage of this Sunday. These gratis taster sessions cover hip-hop, jazz, contemporary dance and ballet amongst other styles. There is a £1 registration fee to cover the whole day, but given the amount of classes on offer  – and the opportunity to try something truly different – this is an absolute steal.
