Christmas Films at The Bright Building
You can get your necessary dose of Christmas cinema this Tuesday afternoon/evening, with these free screenings courtesy of Manchester Science Partnerships. The company, who manage Manchester Science Park, are taking over the big screen at The Bright Building: The glass-panelled jewel of the science park, and one of the venues for Manchester Science Festival earlier in the year. They will be screening the 2000 Jim Carrey adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch at 3pm, followed by 1980s Chevy Chase favourite National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at 5pm. MSP will also generously be providing free pizza, popcorn and other refreshments on the day.
Tue 19 Dec, The Bright Building, Pencroft Way, Manchester Science Park, Manchester, M15 6GZ. 3pm – 8pm, www.eventbrite.co.uk

Genrefluid Chamber Music at Night & Day Café
Genrefluid is a promoter looking to redefine chamber music’s stuffy image, and on Tuesday evening you can catch their latest free show at Night & Day Café on Oldham Street. The extruded shape of Night & Day’s gig room provides the ideal acoustic setting for a night of classical music that’s anything but traditional. Brass band Levvy Metal, Loop-pedal percussionist Peter Mitchell and the young, experimental composers of No Dice Collective are just some of the acts featuring on this weird and wonderful bill.
