Truce charts the Colombian peace negotiations from the point of view of the women FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) guerillas. Having laid down their arms and vacated the Colombian jungle, they have travelled to Havana, Cuba to negotiate a peace deal with the Colombian government which, they hope, will not only bring an end to the world’s longest armed conflict, but also drive women’s rights to the fore in the country. Speakers at this special Manchester showing are co-director Pablo Navarrette and Mariela Kohon (director of Justice for Colombia and adviser to the FARC in the peace process).
