If ‘accurate facts for everyone!’ is your rallying cry, then this one is definitely for you. The People’s History Museum and the Working Class Movement Library have teamed up on a project to acquire material related to the fight for the vote – from Peterloo and the Suffragettes to the lowering of the voting age in the 1960s. Now, Manchester Girl Geeks and Wikimedia have joined their ranks to make the content they have uncovered freely available to the public for the first time. If you want to be part of the drive, bring a laptop and a packed lunch down to the Working Class Movement Library in Salford for a Wikipedia ‘Voting for Change edit-a-thon’. Help get this content out into the public domain – and correct some misinformation along the way – by making, creating and updating Wikipedia pages. Coffee (and a sense of satisfaction) will be provided, and if this is your first time editing Wikipedia, not to worry as the kind folk from Wikimedia will be on hand to guide you through the process.

Sun 19 Nov, Working Class Movement Library, 51 Crescent, Salford M5 4WX, 0161 736 3601, 10am – 4pm, FREE – register here: www.eventbrite.co.uk
