1960s funk band Orchestre Poly-Rythmo arrive at Manchester’s Band on the Wall this June to continue their revival. Hailing from Cotonou on the south coast of Benin, the prolific funky soul collective rubbed shoulders with the likes of Fela Kuti as they released over 50 albums of boundless grooves, many of which remain crate digging rarities, but some have earned re-releases since the turn of the century. The world may have moved on since their 1966 introduction, but their passion for uptempo afrobeat lives onto into the sixth decade.
