Operating somewhere between electronica, shoegaze and downtempo indie-pop, Ulrich Schnauss has found a huge following by creating immense multi-layered soundscapes set against hypnotic beats. He is currently touring ‘Now is a Timeless Present’, a career-spanning retrospective covering key works from his past two decades in the business, selecting essential pieces from his back catalogue, much of which has not been performed live before. Now based in London, the German musician and producer made his breakthrough with debut solo release ‘Far Away Trains Passing By’ in 2001, setting a new benchmark for ambient techno. With more than just his solo releases to his name, Schnauss is also a proud member within the current incarnation of legendary electronic outfit Tangerine Dream, and has seen off remixes for the likes of Sia, Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie and Pet Shop Boys. He’ll be treating fans at Gorilla to his layered electronic soundscapes on 23 March.
