Hanging Ditch has recently been adding to its series of masterclasses with a taste of the grand old U.S. of A. Some of the events have already passed, but arguably the best all-rounder on the agenda is the night playfully named ‘Get your kicks at the Ditch’, using the wine merchant’s very own Californian native, Katie Canfield, to transport you across the ocean to sample the States. Showcasing the best in American beer, wine and whiskey, the night’s drinks include High West Rendezvous Whiskey from Park City in Utah (served old-fashioned straight out of the barrel), Santa Barbara’s Au Bon Climat Wildboy Chardonnay and their 2007 Hildegard, Californian Zinfandels from Burlesque and Napa Valley’s Frog’s Leap (pictured) of Napa Valley (the area well known for its celebrated wines), as well as one you may have even seen on supermarket shelves – Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from Chico in California.
