Bop Local, the club night aimed at parents (and others) who want to have darn good time without spending a fortune on drinks and taxis in town, and get home at a reasonable time for the babysitter, have branched out into live music. Following their successful Sweet Baboo gig last month, Gig Local are putting on their second show at Chorlton Irish Club on Thursday 6 June, featuring Colorama, supported by Rod Smith’s new band, Seventh House. Colorama is the ‘project’ of singer/songwriter, multi-intrumentalist and all-round talented guy, Carwyn Ellis. Colorama’s ‘psychedelic dream pop’ has been championed by the likes of BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley and Gideon Coe, as well as Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. The latest album ‘Good Music’ was produced by Edwyn Collins at his West Heath Studios, and released on his AED Records. Carwyn is also bass player in Edwyn Collins’ band, and  his recent 6Music session was one of this year’s highlights.
