Local legend Dave Haslam has unveiled details for WAM Festival; a four-day takeover of Night & Day Café serving up live music, spoken word and DJ sets. Billed as a “festival with a difference”, fans can look forward to a visit from Halifax’s young indie trio The Orielles, ex-Stereolab favourite Laetitia Sadier, Brighton-based Krautrock throwbacks Fujiya & Miyagi and a free DJ set from Children Of Zeus’ Konny Kon – read our preview here. A highlight is a performance by LIINES. Accurately described by The Quietus as “tight-as-you-like snarly pop coated in a holy racket of guitar noise“, the local three-piece get things started on Thursday, still out supporting the release of much-anticipated debut album Stop-Start. Formed in 2014 through a love of 1970s post-punk, 1980s new wave and 1990s grunge, the fierce trio are no strangers to the Manchester scene but find more praise heaped upon them with each show. They’ll be joined by operatic prog-pop duo KAZE, along with writer and poet Emily Oldfield.
