This month, award-winning high octane theatre company Not Too Tame invites audiences into an ethereal realm where ancient myths unfold in the urban jungle with the riotous, uplifting new production GODS OF SALFORD at Lowry.

Billed as an immersive, energetic stage experience which reimagines Greek mythology as raucous yet affecting stories of working-class resilience, GODS OF SALFORD follows a cohort of young Olympians who confront their oppressive deities in an attempt to regain control of their destinies.

Running as part of Lowry’s 25th anniversary programme – celebrating a quarter-century of creativity, opportunity and accessibility with an inspiring line-up of unmissable events, celebrations of iconic art, family-friendly activities and more – the wildly inventive show unites twenty-five young people from the city to work alongside three professional actors to produce a bold, dynamic adventure which infuses the high-flown tales of epic Greek lore with the singular spirit of Salford’s working class.

Born of an inclusive creative ethos dedicated to deconstructing the traditional barriers of theatre, GODS OF SALFORD promises to showcase untapped talent from around the city and transform lesser-told lived experiences into a mesmerising theatrical epic.

Julia Fawcett O.B.E., Chief Executive of Lowry, said: “Gods of Salford will celebrate the trailblazers and changemakers who have been part of our story so far – and who will undoubtedly help shape our future – the inspirational and talented young people in our city. This commissioned new work is going to showcase both the wealth of talent Salford’s young people have and Lowry’s role in the development of it.

We are so pleased to be uniting with Not Too Tame to bring this new work to life, and know this exciting partnership will result in a dynamic piece of theatre that is worthy of our 25th year, our diverse and dynamic theatre programme and the young people of Salford.

Book tickets below to a night of absorbing theatre that ignites ideas, fuels ambition and puts the future of Salford’s storytelling at centre stage.
