Grammy Award-winning singer and afro-pop star Dobet Gnahoré will pay a visit to Band On The Wall this October on a short tour of the UK. Daughter of famous Ivorian percussionist Boni Gnahoré, the Ivorian singer has just released fifth studio album ‘Miziki’, dubbed her “boldest, most personal” effort to date by Rough Trade. Possessing an energetic, choreographic stage presence and backed up by a supremely talented live band, it’s Gnahoré’s vocal prowess that has found the most fans throughout her career. A committed touring artist, she has performed over 800 shows since 2004 and is now a regular on the festival circuit, described by the Guardian as “WOMAD’s best act” in 2010. Getting proceedings underway on Swan Street, expect neo-soul and upbeat R’n’B from the Yemi Bolatiwa Trio in support.
