After a year being out of commission, Moss Side’s leisure centre is all set to reopen later this month. An £8m refurbishment project has seen improvements to seemingly all of its amenities, including the swimming pools, sports halls, and squash courts. The gym is now twice its former size, and has improved weights, cardio, strength and conditioning facilities. A new health suite features a sauna and steam rooms. It will be the first leisure centre in the area to provide a “Pool Pod”, allowing independent wheelchair access into the pool. And its new “Changing Places” scheme will improve changing room accessibility for all users. The building is also home to Hulme High Street Library, which along with a large collection of books, has computers with internet access, and free WiFi for public use.
