Pop down to the always-brilliant Hulme Garden Centre with friends and family on Saturday 31 Jul, for the first edition of the Green Island Festival: a series of one-day festivals right by the centre of Manchester. Join the party with good food, music and a celebration of community spirit. Festival organisers are asking for donations to Manchester Mind so you’ll be supporting two great causes: Mind and the Garden centre itself, while you party. There’s music from the likes of headliner Werkha,  and Tekeela: a reggae and dancehall vocalist from Montego Bay, Jamaica. There’s a variety of stalls, including Kala MCR will be selling new limited edition T-shirts, as well as their remaining ‘Identity’ collection items, as well as vintage garments from India, again with proceeds going to Mind.

If you’re looking for something to do in the city on a cool, dry Saturday, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Sat 31 Jul, 12pm, Hulme Garden Centre,
28 Old Birley St, Hulme, Manchester M15 5RG
