Billed as ‘Manchester’s International of Fantastic Film’, Grimmfest returns to the Odeon Great Northern for a carnivorous carnival of horror cinema. Featuring 21 original movies and a slate of short films including many international, European and UK premieres, Grimmfest promises ‘an array of thrills, chills, high tension and outrageous dark comedy’ alongside special guests, autograph signings and a festival market.

Commencing on Thu 6 Oct, Grimmfest opens with a UK premiere of ‘fairy tale with zombies’ comedy The Loneliest Boy in the World, with special guests including director Martin Owen, star of the film and Death in Paradise actor Ben Miller and Max Harewood. On Sat Oct 8, Grimmfest stalwart AJ Bowen presents a screening of part-Desert Noir part-sci-fi conspiracy Night Sky. Other feature films across the festival include Michel Hazanavicius’ Final Cut, the UK premiere of modern gothic thriller House of Darkness, science fiction eco-fable Vesper and Ryuhei Kitamura’s ‘gleefully gory’ The Price We Pay.

As well as four riotous days of genre cinema, guests can browse market stalls packed with unique items and mementos, special guest appearances and meet and greets from starring actors and a chance to get their autograph.
