If you’ve ever been to a comedy club you will have been all too aware that the most annoying and loud section of the audience was a stag or hen party. If you didn’t notice that, chances are you were in one of those groups and everyone hated you. To create a nicer audience and thusly a greater comedy show, Group Therapy set up at Gorilla to ensure comedians wouldn’t be heckled by a bunch of drunken laaaaaaaaads and ladettes. It was a bold move and one that has paid off as Group Therapy celebrate their first birthday with an excellent bill of eclectic and exciting comedians. Headlining is Will Franken (pictured), a fantastic character comedian who absolutely killed it last time he was on the Gorilla stage. Also returning will be the ever-inventive and truly original Ben Target, who was also a firm favourite from the group’s inaugural year. Fresh from Edinburgh success is the erudite Liam Williams, who looks set to get bigger and bigger this year, not in height but in a metaphorical and possibly egotistical manner. Fellow Edinburgh buzz-gatherer John Luke Roberts will serve as MC. Make sure you stick around after the comedy as Group Therapy look to put the ‘party’ in ‘birthday party’ with a party for their birthday.
