Group Therapy Comedy Club at Gorilla has been going from strength-to-strength over the past year, bringing in big names like Brendon Burns, Ed Gamble and Josie Long. Despite filling their boots with the big boys, their keen to show they’ve still got one eye on the little guy, and this is what The Magnificent 7 is all about. They’re presenting a roster of acts you won’t have heard of, but might just like – diamonds in the rough from the local and national comedy circuits. Getting top billing are Londoner Joshua Ross and John Robertson, who recently supported the aforementioned Mr. Burns on tour. Also advertised is Irish man Sean Nolan, assault-on-the-senses Kristian D Kirklan and Jayne Edwards, who I can’t write about impartially because she’s a close pal. All of these – and more yet to be announced – will be held together by semi-regular GT compere Danny McLoughlin. So go down and check out the new faces of funniness before they graduate to the big leagues leaving nothing but a dust trail of spent punchlines.
