This March is proving to be a chilly one, and what better way to escape the cold than with a big warming dish of something delicious from Grub street food fair – washed down with a pint, of course. Next week’s line-up of traders have such a spread that even the pickiest eater will find something they fancy at the Fairfield Social Club market. Starting at midday on Friday with Parmstar and their North-East delicacy of cheese-topped schnizels, a description that does not do the dish justice. For the Grub aficionado, there will be, not one, but two trader debuts from Middle Feast, with their generously portioned spiced kebabs and mezze, and The Froyo Box for a froyo dessert topped with fresh fruit and chocolate. Manchester favourite Holy Crab are back on Saturday after a Grub hiatus with fresh-as-you-can-get oysters, crab balls and other seafoodie delights. Andy Low n’ Slow will be trekking up from Birmingham to serve the good people of Manchester his flavourful texan inspired barbecue and taco dishes, including smoked barbecoa on a cheese toasted taco. As usual Sunday is plant-powered, with traders showing off their vegan-but-not-as-you-know it skills, with the likes if Fritto, The Otomen and Wholesome Junkies for ‘Smokey dogs’, ‘Mascaponey cheese’ and ‘Berliner Doner kebabs’. If the prospect of all that delicious food won’t tempt you down, the carefully chosen list of craft beers should do the trick. With a generous selection on tap and in the fridge from the likes of Runaway, Magic Rock and Wander Beyond, alongside special guest ales from further afield. North East based craft brewery, Donsoko Brewing will be representing next week with their unfiltered German-inspired craft beer.
