With spring in full swing, and a long bank-holiday ahead, we’re booking in a weekend of eating and drinking at Manchester’s finest foodie hangout, Grub Food Fair. Held every weekend beneath the railway arches of Piccadilly Station, Grub has been keeping us warm with home-cooked scran from the best traders in the North all winter long. Following on from their first comedy special courtesy of Sham Bodie on the Thursday night (click here to read our full preview), this Easter weekend features Poutine from the Gravy Train (the Canadian delicacy of cheese curds, chips and gravy has become a firm favourite this side of the pond), and fresh and wholesome mezze plates from Levant Street Food Kitchen. What’s Your Beef raise the classic burger to the next level with local grass-fed beef and a stack of fillings. Not a meat eater? Not to worry, Wanderer Junk Food have all the classic guilty treats, but with a vegan twist. Mama Z is back on Saturday with fresh and flavourful Manilan street food and Yo Dough make their Grub trader debut bringing deep fried cookie dough to the masses. Whilst you’re settled in for the afternoon, get a few pints of locally brewed beers in from the likes of Runaway, Shindigger and Cloudwater. Or try one of their guest specials – this week features a Hot Cross Bun Beer from Manchester’s Wanderbeyond brewery.
