It’s another week of very opposite ends of the spectrum in our latest picks from the Albert Hall stage. First up is Skillibeng and his unique approach to dancehall, swiftly followed by ESSENTIAL—the brainchild of Kylie Minogue—and their huge Easter bash.

Skillibeng | Tue 5 Apr

After a real breakout year in 2020, Skillibeng’s trap-focussed approach to dancehall has seen him go from strength to strength. The Jamaican musician has delivered a frankly ludicrous output since then, dropping 43 singles in 2020 and swiftly following suit in 2021 with another 38—he arrives at the iconic Albert Hall early next month.

What better way to kickstart the Easter bank holiday than with Manchester’s own gay superclub, Essential? Launched by the Queen of Pop Kylie herself, it returns to the Albert Hall once more with Chrissy Darling and Mad Pat on hosting duties, and a lineup that includes the likes of Kitty Scott-Claus, Angie Brown, Sharon O-Love and Aphrodite.
