Previews, punch ups and a solid pro make up this week’s picks as Allyson June Smith brings her debut tour to The Frog and there is new material at XS Malarkey and GRUB.

Amy Annette and Alex Kealy at XS Malarkey | Tue 2 Jul | 7.30pm | £3/6

Two more smashers for your delectation this Tuesday as XS Malarkey’s Edinburgh Fringe double bills continue apace. As August fast approaches, comedian’s shows start to really take shape this month so make sure you check out the new work from London-based comics Amy Annette and Alex Kealy. Both sure to be big hits once more at this year’s Fringe.

Title Fight at GRUB | Wed 3 Jul | 7pm | £3/6

Another night of new material except this time with a twist as acts are pitted against each other and choose the title of their sparring partner’s ‘new show’. This month’s instalment sees Sam Ayinde vs Michael Mannion, Alex Stringer vs Jo Owen and Anna Thomas vs Cal Dibbert in a fight to the mirth before the audience decides the victor. High-concept comedy that packs a punch.

GRUB, 50 Red Bank, Manchester M4 4HF
Allyson June Smith at The Frog & Bucket | Sun 7 Jul | 6.15pm | £10

Allyson June Smith plays a homecoming gig of sorts this Sunday as the Canadian ex-pat lands in her beloved new home of Manchester with her debut UK tour. Always a joy to watch on stage, Little Smith Sunshine plays on her settlement in the UK and how gigging up and down the country for the past 10 years has seen her make friends in audiences wherever she goes. No doubt she’ll make more this weekend as she overshares and serves up a potent observational cocktail of wit, bite and shame.
