This week’s comedy picks feature some of the future stars of British comedy with Ania Magliano and Jacob Hawley bringing their tour shows to town and a host of Manchester’s finest headed to Aatma on Monday night for a stacked night of talented up-and-comers.

Manchester Night Live at Aatma | Mon 20 Mar | 7.30pm | Free

Although the name of the night doesn’t make a lot of sense, there’s hopefully a tongue firmly planted in cheek when ‘Manchester Night Live’ takes over Aatma for a night of stand-up from some of the finest rising comedy stars the city has to offer. Hosted by Sam Ayinde and featuring the likes of Ben Silver, Connor Mac, Faizan Shah, Kim Smith and Tom Lawrinson this is a jam-packed evening of solid stand-up. Even better, it’s free to enter and there’s music from The Strange Brew Collective. Start your week right.

Jacob Hawley at XS Malarkey | Tue 21 Mar | 7.30pm | £6/3

XS Malarkey continue their winning formula of full tour shows from the most exciting comedians in the UK alongside full support and usual MC Toby Hadoke as they welcome Jacob Hawley and his new show ‘Bump’. Hawley covers mental health, social class, drugs, anti-pasti, and whether he is ready to be a father in this brand new hour that follows his recent treatises on drugs and love that served as both their own Edinburgh shows and series on BBC Radio 4. See Hawley in these intimate surrounds while you still can.

Ania Magliano at The Lowry | Thu 23 Mar | 8pm | £12/14

You may not be familiar with Ania Magliano which I’m sure she anticipated when expertly named her new show ‘Absolutely No Worries If Not’, but you should really get to know her. She is another comic whose star is very much in the ascendency tackling hard hitting subjects such as Lush, horse girls and buying a cat off Gumtree. Magliano has written for Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date, appeared on The Stand Up Sketch Show on ITV and won the 2022 Best New Show award at the Leicester Comedy Festival. Go if you want to, but absolutely no worries if not.
