Our Christmas comedy picks feature an online night of mirth with XS Malarkey, Dan Tiernan at Comedy For Hot People and a puppet Die Hard at Fab Cafe.
One of the absolute break-out stars of 2022, Dan Tiernan will be headlining the final Comedy For Hot People this Thursday at The Fitzgerald. You can count the number of stand-ups who had a better calendar year than Tiernan on one hand after he scooped up the BBC New Comedy Award followed by the British Comedian of the Year gong a month or so later. Catch him at CFHP before he’s playing much bigger rooms. Plus there’s karaoke afterward, what’s not to love?
As part of Fab Cafe’s big Christmas shindig, cult puppeteers ‘Pop Up Puppet Cinema’ are dusting off some of their dummies for a special double bill of Back to the Future and the best Christmas film in Die Hard. Hoping to do for Bruce Willis what the Muppets did for Charles Dickens these shows are always a treat and there’s a heap of entertainment at Fab starting at 4pm to get you in a festive mood. PUPC will be on around 7pm but maybe go get your seat early.

As comedy clubs tend to turn into a bacchanalia over the festive period XS Malarkey have decided to take themselves to the safe space of twitch.tv for their Christmas party. They were responsible for some of the best online comedy during the various lockdowns Manchester suffered and it’ll be a joy to see Toby introducing a who’s who of stand-ups for this XSmas treat.
