Danny McLoughlin headlines another stacked lineup at XS Malarkey, Molly McGuinness presents her debut hour and Chris Cantrill & Sam O’Leary bring you Adult Film Club this week.

Danny McLoughlin at XS Malarkey | Tue 7 Feb | 7.30pm | £6/3

Danny McLoughlin has long been one of the most undersung comedians on the UK circuit, he’s been honing his craft in the clubs and on his podcasts as a laid-back treat of a stand-up. His easygoing, affable conversational style wins him fans wherever he goes and his recent stints supporting Paul Smith on his arena tour should offer a glimpse of where you’ll catch him in the future. For now you can make do with XS Malarkey’s swanky new digs at Canvas this Tuesday.

Adult Film Club at Cultplex | Thu 9 Feb | 7.30pm | £5

GRUB’s event space may have changed its name from Chapeltown Picture House to Cultplex but the questionably titled Adult Film Club remains the same for its first outing of 2023. Comedian Chris Cantrill and Director Sam O’Leary’s night of comedy short films is having a romantic special in the lead up to Valentine’s Day with funny, pheromone-filled flicks from the likes of Alistair Green, Foxdog Studios and Natasia Demetriou. A different kind of comedy night but one that most certainly puts the ‘cult’ in Cultplex.

Molly McGuinness at Fierce Bar | Fri 10 Feb | 8pm | FREE

Future queen of the Manchester comedy scene, Molly McGuinness takes her tentative first steps to Edinburgh (or whatever replaces it when the landlords blow it up) with her very first Work In Progress show. A finalist at last year’s BBC New Comedy Award and a favourite of the Manchester scene for her straight-talking, self-effacing style, it’s worth getting in to see Molly so you can see her before she was such a big deal.

Fierce Bar, 57 Thomas Street, Manchester M4 1NA
