Not all the comedians have gone to Edinburgh, there are a shocking amount of great mixed bill shows this week at Laughienda, XS Malarkey and Creatures Comedy Club.
XS Malarkey very rarely takes a break, and it won’t let a thing like the world’s biggest arts festival get in the way of a great night of live comedy. In the event of a global apocalypse, cockroaches will be performing in some approximation of XS. As we sidestep doomsday for another week, Toby Hadoke will be introducing Bethany Black as headliner and a host of local up-and-comers in support of a comedy-starved audience looking for the next big thing.
Not far behind in its dedication to live stand-up and the show always going on, Creatures Comedy Club may not have XS’s twenty-something years in the business, but they do have shows 7 nights a week. The jewel in their crown is the Friday night showcase where they welcome some of the best comics from around the world to their basement home. Big stand-up in a tiny space, Creatures may be the future of Mancunian comedy.

The Fringe is getting prohibitively expensive, and heck, so is life. No better time then to take a punt on a free evening of stand-up comedy from the best and brightest acts from Manchester and beyond at Fierce Bar’s weekly Comedy Vault. Run by Phil Sutton, Jake Breeze and Annabelle Devey, you never quite know who will show up, but you are in for a fun evening to start your week without breaking the bank.
