Horatio Gould and Amy Matthews bring tour shows to the city, and Rob Mulholland headlines a new comedy night at Disorder.

Rob Mulholland at Disorder | Tue 20 Feb | 8pm | £3

Disorder continues its “Madchester” pastiches with a new comedy night named after one of the Happy Mondays’ greatest hits Step On. Hosted by Jack Wood, the debut show welcomes Rob Mulholland as headliner. One of a number of self-made comics in the North who are paving their own way in the scene with podcasts, specials and sold-out shows off their own steam, Mulholland is an intelligent firebrand of a comic who imbues any show with his fun sense of righteous indignation. Here’s hoping for a Happy Tuesday.

Horatio Gould at Cultplex | Thu 22 Feb | 7.30pm | £12

Continuing a trend of comics who have built up their own fanbase off their online escapades, Horatio Gould is perhaps best known for his viral ‘fake documentaries from the early 2000s’ sketches with fellow comic Andrew Kirwan. Gould has turned his online fandom into an IRL following and had great success at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe with his debut show Sweet Prince. He now brings said show to Cultplex. A smart, cutting voice for the new generation, Gould has the skills to go very far in comedy.

Amy Matthews at GRUB | Fri 23 Feb | 7.30pm | £12

Another rising star in the UK comedy scene, Amy Matthews brings her own debut tour to GRUB’s dining room, I Feel Like I’m Made of Spiders, a show about the thrill of falling and the thud of landing. After the thud comes a laugh, with Matthews poking fun at everything but mostly herself. A great wordsmith and spinner of a yarn, Matthews treads the line between stand-up and troubadour, taking audiences on a wild journey through clever wordplay and hilariously honest tales. See her in these more intimate surroundings before she’s playing to much bigger rooms.
