Edinburgh is fast approaching and with it a glut of pretty spectacular comedy previews, this week’s highlights come from Sara Barron, John Hastings, Larry Dean and rising star Bella Hull.

Sara Barron & Bella Hull at The Frog & Bucket | Tue 5 Jul | 8pm | £7

Sara Barron has appeared on the likes of Live at The Apollo, Would I Lie To You and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order and was nominated for the best newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe four years ago. In four years time we may well be writing a similar list of accolades for Bella Hull such is the buzz around this 24-year-old comic. Catch both at the Frog for a Tuesday treat.

The Jain Edwards Show at Chapeltown Picture House | Thu 7 Jul | 8pm | £8/10

The first ‘series’ of anarchic comedy chat show ‘The Jain Edwards Show’ reaches its season finale this week with a special guest appearance from The Delightful Sausage’s Chris Cantrill. Recently featured in The Guardian the ‘alternative’ night has gone from strength to strength in its first ‘season’ as Jain and her rag tag bunch of merry character comics have reinvented the comedy show from month to month.

Larry Dean and John Hastings at The Frog & Bucket | Sun 10 Jul | 7pm | £6/8

Another top double bill of Edinburgh previews to close out the week? Why not! Especially when its acts as high a calibre as Larry Dean and John Hastings. Only last week Dean was playing the big room at The Lowry and is already back with work in progress show ‘Fudnut’. Hastings is always a belligerent treat and his new show features tales of his recent appearance on Britain’s Got Talent and getting heckled by Dennis Rodman.
