Three of the top comics in the country are heading to the city this week with Lou Sanders’ honed tour show, Jordan Brookes with a new preview and Stu Goldsmith looking to have a lovely time.

Lou Sanders - One Word: Wow | Wed 4 May | 8pm | £18.50

Everything Lou Sanders says and does is with her tongue planted firmly in cheek, but with the title of this new tour show and her recent ascendency to the top of the comedy tree it’d be easy to take it at face value. Sanders has always been an unpredictable joy of a comedian but more recently she has honed her spontaneous energy into some of the most tightly written comedy shows at the Fringe starting with 2018’s Shame Pig. This latest hour claims to be ‘the real vaccine’ and frankly why would you doubt her. Go get a double dose.

Hannah Platt and Jordan Brookes at The Kings Arms | Thu 5 May | 7pm | £9

There’s a terrific double preview at The Kings Arms this week as reigning Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Jordan Brookes teams up with rising star of the North West scene Hannah Platt. The latter has been steadily affirming herself as the hilarious but misanthropic voice of a disappointed and disenfranchised new generation, whereas Brookes will no doubt be reinventing the very idea of what is funny in his own inimitable style. Can he make it three years at the top, this August? The first steps are here in Salford.

Stuart Goldsmith at A Lovely Time | Sat 7 May | 7pm | £12-14

The Comedians Comedian himself Stuart Goldsmith will be touching down in Manchester this weekend. After amassing 400 episodes over the course of 10 years on his award-winning podcast, Stuart has almost perfected the art of stand-up through meticulous research and planning. And also being very, bloody funny. Here he’ll be joined by Britain’s Got Talent finalist Nabil Abdulrashid, rising star Lou Taylor and character comic Peter Fleming. All held together by regular host Amy Gledhill.
