Maria Bamford plays a rare must see show in Manchester this week, the highlight of a pretty special seven days of comedy for the city.

Jonathan Mayor at XS Malarkey | Tue 26 Apr | 7.30pm | £3/6

One of the jewels of the Manchester comedy scene heads to the crown of the city’s clubs as camp icon Jonathan Mayor drops by XS Malarkey this week. Mayor is always an absolute treat and especially so when given the reign of somewhere like XS. Here he’ll be joined by a stellar lineup of up and coming talent in Josh Weller, Eleri Morgan and James Ellis, all ably held together by Toby Hadoke.

Maria Bamford at Manchester Academy 2 | Thu 28 Apr | 6pm | £22

One of the America’s finest talents is coming to the UK for just three shows and one of them happens to be in Manchester so you better make sure you get there if you can. Maria Bamford has been in every TV comedy you’ve enjoyed in the last two decades (Arrested Development, Big Mouth and her own amazing sitcom Lady Dynamite to name but a few), as well as groundbreaking stand up specials she’s recorded, and is just as much a delight to see on stage. This really is a rare treat and may be the only time she makes it over this way so grab your ticket with both hands, inexplicably there are still a few left.
